I am a highly motivated and self-driven freelance sound and lighting engineer mainly working in the field of contemporary performance systems.  Additional work within studio recording/engineering and mastering also forms part of my regular work load, as previous audio industry training includes North Wales based production company Professional Audio, audio system specialists Apple Sound, Freelance Yamaha engineer John Horsefall (Engineer to British band Elbow) and a Sony Partnered Mastering House in Liverpool.  In addition to this experience, my personal business focuses on a variety of media elements including, events management, video production, and creative event computer/system programming and op-ing.

- New Music Festival

I work alongside festival organisers and venue technical managers to deliver a vast programme of new music on a yearly basis.  Also provide assistance to the BBC for multiple live radio broadcasts.  Previous technical work includes an AV installation with dual quadrophonic systems, a telematic four-way broadcast performance, and a 196-channel orchestral PA rig.

Technical Specialisms

  • Experience in operating, configuring and setting-up a diverse range of professional sound reinforcement equipment
  • Experience with most modern consoles including: DiGiCo SD8/9, Allen & Heath, Behringer analogue desks and the X32, Soundcraft, Mackie, Tascam, and Yamaha DM2000/02R models.
  • A good understanding and practice of the different sound approaches required for events ranging from lectures, corporate events, theatre and comedy through to bands, orchestral and festivals
  • A broad understanding of RF technologies
  • Logical understanding of signal flow and using test equipment for rapid faultfinding

  • The ability to rapidly adapt when faced with unknown hardware

  • Experience in various recording situations including live, studio and on-location set-ups using co-incident pair, spaced pair, Decca tree, spot and hybrid microphone techniques

  • An advanced practical understanding of computer-based audio/MIDI packages; in particular ProTools, Logic Pro/Main Stage, Cubase and Ableton
